What it costs, and when you find out.
"On request" does not help you while you are comparing. So: real numbers, and what moves them — enough to know before a conversation whether we are in the same order of magnitude.
Orders of magnitude
Small website
from €1,500
A fully working site, not a template left for you to finish: design, your text and images properly set, fast on phone and desktop, a contact form that actually arrives, the Google basics in order, and put live on a server that stays up.
Webshop
from €3,000
On Shopify, WooCommerce or Magento, or wired into the stock and invoicing you already run. Above that the price hangs on the number of connections, not the number of products.
Custom application
from around €8,000
A well-scoped application starts there. A real platform — several roles, money, integrations — runs well past it.
Takeover or integration
from €1,500
Taking an existing project over, adding an integration, getting e-invoicing in order. Shorter than a full project, but no less precise: you inherit somebody else's decisions, and those have to be understood before anything changes.
Above your budget?
Then just say so. There is usually a way: a smaller first phase that is worth something on its own, an existing platform instead of custom work, or spreading the work over a few months. What does not happen is the same thing built for less money — that always gets paid for on one side, and usually on yours. If it genuinely does not fit, I will say that too, with the name of somebody who can do it for that figure.

A conversation first, a number second
A price on a half-understood problem is not a price but a guess, and you pay for the guess. So there is a scoping step first: what it has to do, what it explicitly does not, and where the expensive parts are hiding.
One fixed amount, in plain language
What is being built, what is not, and what it costs, in one document with no line you have to ask me to translate. Large projects are cut into phases that each end in something usable.
What moves the number
The number of connections to other people's systems, how many roles there are, whether money moves through the application, and whether existing data has to come along. Design and page count move it far less than people expect.
What is included regardless
Putting it live, a server that stays up, and three months of warranty on what was agreed. No separate invoice for putting live what you already paid for.

What does a small website cost?
From €1,500, and what stands there is finished: design, your content in place, fast on phone and desktop, a contact form that arrives, the SEO basics in order, and live on a server that stays up. Ready to use, not something you still have to spend a weekend on. Above that it is about more bespoke design, more pages, or things the site has to do besides being read — a booking system, a customer area, a link into your administration.
What does a webshop cost?
From €3,000 for a shop on an existing platform with standard payments. Above that it depends mostly on what the shop has to talk to: holding stock, invoicing and shipping together across three systems is a different story. After the scoping step you get one number.
Do you work hourly or at a fixed price?
A fixed price per phase, by preference — that way I carry the risk of my own estimate rather than you. For ongoing work or small changes I do work by the day. Agencies and teams who need a developer alongside theirs for a while hire by the hour: €85, or €105 for specialist work such as Peppol or Stripe Connect.
Rates, and what does and does not fitWhat if the project changes halfway?
It happens, and it is usually a good sign: you have seen something working and understand it better. Changes are quoted separately before they are built, so you can decide whether they are worth it.
Do I pay less or more if I am nearby?
The same. The price follows the work, not the distance: a webshop costs in Bruges what it costs in Brussels. What being close does change is how we start — around Roeselare, Kortrijk, Ypres or Tielt a conversation at a table is easily arranged, and that usually saves a week of back and forth on scope.
Working with a developer in West FlandersCan I pay in phases?
Yes. Large projects are cut into phases that each end in something you can use, and invoiced per phase.
