Privacy policy

This site is run by Rascals - Bartel Samyn, Kastanjestraat 21, 8800 Roeselare, Belgium (enterprise number BE 0792.738.042). For anything below, write to info@rascals.be and you will get a person rather than a ticket number.

What is collected

Only what you type into one of the two forms: your name, your email address, and — where you fill them in — your company, phone number, and whatever you write about your project. The project form additionally records the options you pick for budget, timing and what already exists.

Alongside that, the IP address and browser identification of the submission are stored. Those are kept for one reason: telling a real enquiry from an automated one.

What is not collected

No Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no heatmap, no session recording, no advertising network. Nothing here reports your visit to a third party, and no profile of you is built.

There are no third-party embeds — no hosted fonts, no video players, no chat widget. Every asset comes from this domain, which is why there is no cookie banner: nothing is placed on your device or read from it in order to count you, so there is nothing to ask you about.

How visitors are counted

How many people read the site is measured, but it happens on this server, from the request itself. No script, no cookie, no third party.

Per page view the following is kept: the day, which page, in which language, and which website you came from if there was one — the domain name only, never the full link. Your IP address and browser identification are not stored: together they are turned into a single unreadable code, under a key that changes every night. That means today's code cannot be linked to tomorrow's, and nobody — including me — can work back from it to you.

If you arrive through an advert, the link you clicked carries a click code. That is kept, so I can tell which advert led to work rather than only what it cost in clicks. It says nothing about you and is tied to nothing except your own enquiry, if you send one.

The basis is the legitimate interest in knowing whether the site is read and which pages are useful. The figures are used for nothing else. Rows older than ninety days are deleted automatically.

Cookies

There are four cookies on this site, all of them the site's own and none of them there to follow you. One remembers which language you were reading, so a later visit to the bare address lands you in the right one: it holds a two-letter language code and nothing else. Two more belong to the forms — they keep your session and protect the submission against outside abuse — and disappear when your browser closes, or a few hours later. The fourth keeps this site's own admin dashboard signed in between visits; it is only ever set when I log into that dashboard myself, so as a visitor you will never actually receive it.

None of the four needs your consent, because all of them are strictly necessary for something that was asked for: reading the site in your language, sending a form, or (for one account) staying signed in. None of the four records what you do, and none is shared with anybody. The full list, with exact names and lifetimes, is in the cookie policy.

Your light or dark preference is stored in your browser's local storage. That never leaves your device and is never sent to the server.

Why it is kept, and for how long

Your enquiry is kept in order to answer it and, if we end up working together, to have a record of how the conversation started. The legal basis is the step taken at your request before a possible contract, and legitimate interest in answering people who write in.

Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted after two years. Ones that do are kept for as long as the working relationship and the periods Belgian bookkeeping law requires.

Who else sees it

Nobody is sold anything and nothing is shared for marketing. In practice your message passes through two suppliers: the company hosting the server, and the service that delivers the notification email. Both act on instruction only, and neither uses the content for anything of their own.

Data stays within the European Union.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. There is no form for this: send an email and it gets done, normally the same week and in any case within a month.

If you think something has been handled badly, you can complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit, Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels). Telling me first is usually faster.
